Think about it. Once time travel is made operational and (even moderately) accessible, where is one of the FIRST places/times people will go?
A time machine will allow mankind to confirm or deny the events of the bible.
Time travellers will return to the present with the knowledge that Christians are right, or that Christians are wrong. Either way will result in worldwide doubt, despair, nihilism, skepticism, skepticism OF skepticism, followed by accusation, anger, and most probably, violence and death.
Prompting someone to use the time machine to go back and prevent the time machine from ever being invented. I'm not sure how paradoxes like that will effect the time-space continuum or the fabric of reality or whatever, but suffice to say there won't be any time travel.
At least that's what I think would happen. Or has already happened. And then un-happened.
