-Pottery Barn - if you're selling fancy, high-end, over-priced furniture and housewares, do you really want the word "barn" in your name? i half expect there to be hay on the floor. this name says "I am a reputable purveyor of fine pottery. if you'd like to peruse my wares, please meet me in the back of a horse stable."
-White House Black Market - my main problem with this name is that it sounds like they sell something AWESOME. like the pentagon's top secret weapons, or a smuggled bald eagle. but NO. it's a banana republic, with less color. and banana republic wasn't that good to begin with.
-The Athlete's Foot- you know what i wanna think of when i'm trying on shoes in your store? Fungus infection. that's just good marketing.

hahahah jon and i had a discussion about having the word "barn" in your store name.. but that's when we were passing Dress Barn. they sell women's clothes there and that's just not an appealing name at all. lol
