why, owen? what is it with you and writing futuristic or post-apocalyptic stuff?
Some people may have noticed a pattern in my body of work, especially with the Heuristic Squelch... The Olympic Nuclear Winter Games, The Truth About the Future, Ineffective Strategies for the Zombie Apocalypse, and Post-Apocalyptic Love Advice ... those, along with my zombie-themed blog Commonplace-Z, my PCN skit, The State of Lunafornia, and my prospective TV pilot, Oscar at the End COULD suggest some sort of a trend, i suppose.
i dunno, i could sit down and try to analyze the appeal of settings and situations that pose dystopian reflections of society that are simultaneously savage and alluring, tragic and romantic, categorically plagued by the inhuman and therefore revealing through struggle what is human... but at the end of the day, i think the heart of the matter is that zombies and robots are fucking awesome and the only thing that makes them more awesome is when we have to fight them with shotguns and chains and everyone forms war tribes and rides dune buggies and dresses like 2pac in the California Love video.
