Plans for the Future

Listed in order, from least likely to most probable.

1. I get chosen for the NBC program or the Disney/ABC fellowship, move to LA under the umbrella of a sufficient (if temporary) salary, hone my skills and, over the course of years, parlay my connections to staff writer job.

2. Move to LA without a fellowship. Get job #1 (possibly transfer to a local Williams-Sonoma) to pay for gasoline, ramen, and a hole to sleep in. Compete with hundreds for job #2 as a production/agency assistant/intern which may pay anywhere from next to nothing to precisely nothing. Grind for a few years, trying to find connections. at some point, magically blossom into an amazing writer, in the event that the chance does come.

3. Stay home. Apply for a small business loan, sprinkling debt on an already generous sundae of debt. open a graphic novel cafe somewhere local, where students can study late somewhere other than the little 24-hour starbucks, and nerds and nerdlings can read manga graphic novels for free somewhere other than on the floor at Borders. in a few years, if lucky, start making actual profit.

4. go back to school. start over. get a damn job skill this time around.

5. Stay home. Parlay whatever connections i have for a higher paying job. maybe something in an office. maybe move up to the sales floor at WS. rinse, lather, repeat for years. put the stories on a shelf somewhere. next to my degree.

i swear this post was less dismal when i thought of it earlier, haha.
