The AoS Music Awards

The Played-Out Forever Award: K-Ci and Jojo's All my Life. This song was played to DEATH by radio stations and ANYONE showing off on a piano for like a year straight. seriously, if you listen to any audio or video recording circa 1997, this song is probably playing in the background. Even now, over 10 years later, it's not un-played out.

The Played-Out ForNEVER Award: No Doubt's Don't Speak. I will never be tired of this song. Don't ask me why, I just like it OKAY?!?

The Recently Un-Played-Out Award: Amy Winehouse's Rehab. Opinions may vary on this one, but my iPod's shuffling spit this one out yesterday, and as it turns out, three years of sitting on the shelf have made this one okay again!

The Making Talent Obsolete and Unnecessary Award:
The Vocoder. Hands down. Congratulations you lucrative, souless robot.

The Overrated Award: Lil Wayne. It tooks me years to even LET myself enjoy "Weezy," because i'm so biased against the Cash Money Millionaires. But I rationalized that I can enjoy pop music without necessarily respecting the artist as a musician. I will that admit he makes good songs if EVERY HIP HOP MAGAZINE EVER agrees to stop calling this guy a "genius."

The Fad Graveyard Award: The Hyphy Movement. Rest in pieces, alongside Crunk. I will enjoy "gigging" on your grave. But only ironically. Good riddance.

The "WTF? Was that a baby sound??" Award:
Aliyah's Are You That Somebody? Also the only nominee in this category.
