We were so close. Asian people were SO close to being the heroes of a high budget, high profile, mainstream hollywood movie (Crouching Tiger doesn't count). the material damn near called for it EXPLICITLY.
but no. in swoops paramount or whoever, with their "marketable" white kids. and abra cadabra, now the caucasians are the heroes, and asians are back in their place as extras, bad guys, and mr. miyagi's!
but at least they'll give brown people a chance to play the villainous tyrants. thanks for tossing us that bone.
